August 1, 2014 - One of my best friends' wedding. This is somewhat of a bittersweet post for several reasons.
There are events that I have attended, in which I constantly think, "I would have loved to shoot this." This is one of those times. What more could you ask for, than to have free reigns at a wedding full of people that you know, and can really get around the 'too close' area. Well at my friend George's wedding, I was to be the best man. I was to follow him around, and be at the best spot at the alter, and right by him during the entire ceremony and reception - but without a camera.
There are things that I would have, and would not have, done when comparing myself to their wedding photographer. Regardless, one major thing is to know beforehand, where each event will happen and the schedule for it.
I did not take many photos that night because I had a different responsibility, but I am proud to say that while the photographer was no where to be found, I was able to capture the couple's first dance and at least keep that memory in photographs for them.
Congratulations, George and Joni, a small gift from me to you...
